Branches
Branches are parts of a tree that grow out from the trunk. In this analogy they represent the ways core beliefs are acted out by individuals to support themselves directly, which indirectly supports society. In early stage of a tree/society there is one or several branches. In advanced stages there may be scores of branches. Branches represent different segments of society. As a tree/society grows, having branches cut can go from disastrous to helpful.
