Re+Creating Individual Minds

We could not legislate a change in people's minds. Instead, we gave ourselves a+new story that was as meaningful as the old one but made better sense.
We provided a+new narrative that aligned our actions with the ways of life and acknowledged our reality as eco+creators rather than conquerors. Only then did we re+create cultures that value balance, re+source+fullness, and deep connection with all+life. Fundamentally, being+sapiens are as perfect as any life+form. Give us a story that aligns us with all+life, we live in harmony with ki. However, if given a story that pits us against the world, as was the case in the dead culture, we will act in opposition to it. If people are given a story in which they are the rulers of the world, they will behave like rulers. If they are given a story in which the world is an adversary to be conquered, they will conquer it like an adversary, and the world will suffer the consequences. It was not as simple as telling people to give up their story. No people can simply stop living in a story; a+new story to replace the old one was essential. It was not enough to just alter the way people behave towards Gaia; they had to also alter the way they think about Gaia. As long as the past culture believed that the world belonged to them and that their destiny was to conquer and rule, they would have continued to treat ki as an 'it' to be subdued... |
